During starting suddenly the tailwheel spring was breaking. This was not a nice experience. I couldn’t steer anymore and the Rebel went to the left. Furtunately not far and I could stop the plane without any damage.
What happened: The spring was fabricated out of glass fabric (GFK). I never trusted this part so much. Then during steering it got some sideload and was breaking. I can only recommend not to use the GFK spring. Meanwhile Murphy has changed this part to an Aluminum based spring.
